Hi, I’m Alexis.

My story began on country roads.

Growing up in North-Central Idaho on the Nez Perce Reservation, sometimes without running water or electricity, taught me early on the importance of community, protecting the environment, and not taking our infrastructure for granted. It’s hard to overlook the value of our roads, sidewalks, and pathways when you practice for track meets by running along a two-lane, 50mph highway. After high school, I worked for my dad’s small business brushing forest service roads and fighting wildland fires in Idaho, Montana, and California. But I was soon ready to blaze my own trail.

I charted course to the Treasure Valley.

I came to Boise State as a first-generation college student and quickly fell in love with this community. While in college, I earned degrees in English and Political Science and eventually earned my Masters of Health Science and Health Policy. While I was in school, I established a food pantry on campus for food-insecure students and completed research on the benefits of incorporating technology to improve the accessibility of government programs.

My dream job gets communities moving.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked with cities and counties, making changes that improve our quality of life, whether that was bringing safe routes to schools, protecting open spaces, or improving our healthcare systems. Those experiences drew me to run for ACHD Commissioner in 2020 and have been guiding me over the past 3.5 years. During this time, I’ve been able to shift ACHD in a better direction and want to continue to make progress in how we prioritize safety, collaborate with our communities and land use partners, and build infrastructure that is connected and supports all road users.
